Setting Director and Manager: Laura Ley
SENCO Director: Nicky Summersby
Non-Exec Director: Jackie Colby
I have been involved with the preschool since my eldest daughter started in 2003; I became an active member of the parent committee and saw my other two children also make their way through the preschool. They all grew in confidence and esteem which aided them in their next chapter, "big school". In 2007 I joined the staff team as the settings administrator; this was to relieve the increasing pressures on committee members who also had their own jobs and lives outside of the growing provision. I completed my Business Administration technical certificate in 2010 and love my job here at Treetops which has since, become more managerial, particularly in the day to day running of Treetops. I feel very passionate about early years and how we, as parents should give our children the best start and as many play opportunities as we can offer them. I feel very privileged to be a part of Treetops preschool and out of schools clubs as it's an amazing provision that we are all very proud of. In 2012 I became the Business Manager at Treetops to primarily drive the business forward into the future. I also completed my Children's And Young Peoples Workforce level 2 & level 3 Diploma in Childrens and Young Peoples Workforce and following that a Leadership & Management development programme. In August 2017 I became the CIC Setting Director and Manager, a role I enjoy very much. At Treetops we have a great committed staff team all of which bring something different to the setting. The strong team along with myself are excited for the future as we build on what we have already achieved. I am currently working towards my level 5 in Early Years Leadership/Management and am also the Senior Designated level 3 Safeguarding Officer for the setting.
Since becoming involved with Treetops as a parent helper/committee member back in 2008! I never really realised what a Preschool was all about. Realising very quickly how much the children gain from a nurturing environment and seeing their confidence grow made me realise that I wanted to learn more. Choosing not to go back to my previous career, after I had my two children. I began volunteering in June 2009 to enable me to do my NVQ 2 in Children's Care Learning and Development, which then led onto my CCLD Level 3 which I completed June 2011. In September 2011 I also gained my Level 3 in Play work. I now work across all the services as a senior practitioner but with a keen interest and many years of experience in Special Educational Needs I also started my Level 5 in Early Years advanced practice in 2016. In August 2017 I became the Preschool leader within the new CIC structure. I aim to support the staff in their roles and also lead the SEN area of the setting. I am also a Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Officer. Now I look back and couldn’t imagine doing anything else. Being part of Treetops is a massive privilege working with a team that is passionate about nurturing and giving every child the best possible start in life.
I have been working with children since 2006 mainly as a nanny. In 2007 I joined Treetops as a Preschool Assistant. Since starting I have undertaken and completed my levels 2 & 3 in Childcare, Learning & Development and have more recently completed my level 3 Playwork qualification. These have been great opportunities for me and have boosted my confidence greatly. I work as a room leader across all the services we offer. I really enjoy my job as I work with so many different and wonderful children where every day is different.
I began at Treetops as a duty parent while my children were there, I went on to become a volunteer when my youngest started school. I then completed my NVQ level two and then level 3 in Childcare and Learning Development in 2011. In 2014 I gained my Playwork level 2. More recently I have enjoyed the challenge of working 1:1 with children who require SEN support.
Hi I'm Kelly. I completed my Level 3 National Diploma in Tavistock College 2012. I started at Treetops at the beginning of Spring term 2013 working in the Preschool, After School club and Holiday clubs. I thoroughly enjoy working at Treetops and am passionate about what we provide for children and families so I chose to do my Playwork level 3 Diploma. Being an Early Years Educator/Play worker is very rewarding and I enjoy working with the children and staff very much. I am now looking further to improve my skills and knowledge by undertaking my level 5, this will further develop my knowledge within the childcare sector to support me in my role. In August 2017 I became the Extended Schools leader within the CIC structure. I am looking foward to supporting my team in their roles and developing the out of school club services. I am also a Level 3 designated safeguarding officer and Health & Safety Officer.
This is my sixth year at Treetops working primarily at After School Club and I thoroughly enjoy it. Treetops is a wonderful place and the staff and children make it a fun place to be. We have lots of activities during after school club and I particularly enjoy any arts and crafts sessions. Before coming to Treetops I ran a Tumble Tots franchise up in Cheshire. Over the week we had 27 classes with on average 450 children attending each week. It was an active and exciting job. The After School club at Treetops is just as exciting and the children's enthusiasm and energy is infectious. I have completed my Level 3 Playwork qualification which supports me in my role at Treetops.
Hi, my name is Lorraine and I have been working mainly in Early Years childcare since 2007, once my own two children started at Senior School. I started in Early Years as a volunteer to complete my NVQ 2 CCLD. This was followed by working at that setting and gaining my NVQ 3 in 2010. I joined Treetops in September 2014 and work across most of the services. I particularly enjoy running the Baby & Toddler group in the hall next door to Treetops on a Tuesday morning.
I’m Jo, I live on beautiful wild Dartmoor and I have four wonderful children. I come from a cosmopolitan background and have a special interest in children with additional needs, which reflects my own experience of being a Mum for 30 years and having my own children with learning difficulties. I have a strong belief in a holistic and nurturing approach to childcare. I also have a First class Bachelor of Honours Science degree, which helps me combine my holistic ethos of care with evidenced based practices.
Hi, I’m the other Laura at Treetops, I completed my NVQ 2 in Childcare and Education at Duchy College in 2003. I have been working in Early Years for 6 years and after having a break to have my two children, I returned to putting my qualification to good use when they went to school. It’s a privilege to be working at the wonderful Treetops, I am now coming into my second year here and love every minute I spend with the children and staff.
I live locally with my little boy and our very cute dog Bruce. We have a large extended family and are very outdoorsy so are always off exploring the beautiful countryside. I completed my NVQ level 2&3 in Childcare whilst studying at Launceston college. This led me into a full time position as a private nanny for a child with addition needs for 6 years; this is where I found my passion for the care and education of children. Since this position I have worked as a community Carer for both the elderly and children with disabilities. I have gained a Makaton sign language qualification, behaviour management training, a qualification in supporting children with additional needs and bucket loads of experience. I joined the Treetops team in early 2019 and I absolutely love it here. Being part of a widely knowledgeable team that provides an educational environment that is secure and nurturing for all children, enabling them to flourish and develop is extremely rewarding for me. No two days are the same when working with children and this is what keeps my passion going. I hope to continue developing my knowledge and experience whilst at treetops.
